About a dozen of the men charged in 2016's "Project Marie" operation saw charges withdrawn with the assistance of a group of local lawyers. At least seventy-two men had been ticketed for non-criminal offences and one for a criminal offence at the time.
"In terms of the legal defences, the lesson here is the same as it has been for 30-plus years: that those who choose to fight these types of morality raids tend to be vindicated," [Toronto lawyer Marcus] McCann said.

"The tickets themselves are fairly minor, no more serious than a jaywalking ticket, and yet the consequences for those who are affected by Project Marie can be very, very serious. We know historically that the effect of these kinds of morality raids has been devastating on some of those captured by them, leading to the break-up of families, depression, other mental issues, suicide attempts. These are high-stigma offences."

Toronto police have always denied that Project Marie was homophobic, but rather, they say, it was an attempt to respond to complaints from some residents about public nudity, indecent exposure and drug and alcohol consumption in the park. The force has since acknowledged that its LGBTQ liaison officer was not consulted before the execution of Project Marie, and that it should have spoken with LGBTQ groups beforehand.
Also reported, "It's unclear just how many charges were withdrawn, successfully or unsuccessfully prosecuted, or where individuals plead guilty."

Heads Up!
There's been a large police operation including undercover officers at Marie Curtis Park within both Mississauga and Etobicoke by Toronto Police 22 Division. Cruisers are advised to stay away.

From CityNews: "We have walked in on people actively engaged in sexual behaviour," Const. Kevin Ward explained. "There have been 88 charges laid under the Toronto City Bylaws and the Provincial Offences Act."

The article continues, "Some residents who were in the park on Friday evening told CityNews it isn't rare for men to attempt to solicit sex from them.

'They park right beside you, and they high beam you,' Delfrate explains.

In fact, undercover officers have witnessed this first hand.

'We have officers in plain clothes in the park enforcing these laws, being approached by individuals participating in this behaviour and they've solicited officers without knowing,' Const. Ward explained. 'It's quite alarming. Some of the activities are far more prevalent than I could've imagined.'"

From the Toronto Star: "Ward said many of those individuals charged in Project Marie so far have hailed from Mississauga and Toronto, but there have also been charges against alleged offenders from Guelph, Cambridge, Brampton, Orangeville and even one from Calgary — leading him to believe Marie Curtis has become a destination park for this type of activity."

Police and community members organized a Walk the Beat Saturday Nov 16, 2016 to "Take Back The Park."

Still lots of action! The smart ones don't go during the day but there is still action way way in the west side of the park past the fence line. A great place, I've gotten fucked here often, but keep your eyes open for kids in the park and cops in the parking lot.

This place sucks! If you're under fifty years old don't waste your time. It's for retirees who all know each other.

Tends to get cruisy after Easter weekend when the road leading to the nearby parking lots opens up. Lots of bi guys cruise here for late night blowjobs. Take the 501 streetcar eastbound to the last stop (Long Branch), walk past Mississauga transit shelter, past Long Branch GO train station, over the bridge, then turn and walk towards the lake through the park. The parking lots are visible, cruising areas are around the big abandoned tower. Have fun.

This is a great place all spring, summer and during the nice weather in the fall. Guys of all ages and all are looking to play. Often there are couples and shemales during the late night hours. Check it out but be careful and watch for the cops.

In the winter, check out the lot on the east side of the creek, but if the weather is right or if the guys are feeling adventurous you can walk over bridge on the west side and head into the woods for hot outdoor action.
In the summer you can park in the lot on the west side of the creek and head to the woods! I've had lots of action and joined in on some group action too.

The cops are more concerned about drugs than about men having sex in the park.

Heads Up!
There were cops on bikes in the bushes and on the trails chasing people out.

Be very careful on the east side of the river; the neighbors really are watching and the police are getting nasty. I received a ticket just for sitting with a coffee.

Heads Up!
I saw two plain clothes men in their forties, one in black and the other in white civvies, briefing each other. One was in the bushes and the other was on the pathway. Be alert and be extra careful!

I have also noticed cops patrolling on horses.
Try not to be obvious and be alert!

Heads Up!
I drove by to check it out and made a quick turn around and left when I saw a cop cruiser, and two other cruisers coming to assist. Not sure what kind of activity was taking place, but I didn't hang around to find out.

Keep your sex action well hidden in your vehicle or in the bushes. This will help all of us who enjoy sex in the outdoors and respect the straight folks and kids as well. This will also help prevent cops invading the area and ruining our fun.

One of the best cruisy parks in North America. The east entrance (down the residential street by the donut shop) seems to be better very late at night, especially if you're looking for straight men. Many sections of the woods and beach at the very end of the main driveway into the park are busy almost 24 hours a day. Sometimes late at night the cops drive around, but they usuallly just sit in their cruisers as an intimidation tactic to get people to leave.
