Abu Nawas Park
Category: Cruisy park Directions: Paved path which runs down the center of the park between Abu Nawas Road and Tigris River. Most activity takes place after dark on the portion of the pathway that extends a several hundred feet upriver direction from the Baghdadi restaurant. One can also find some cruising taking place on the park side of Abu Nawas Road though it is more well lit and is frequented by the general public.

For decades, this has park has been known to be cruisy after dark. The park does not offer much in the way of privacy aside from it being dark, but there is no shortage of men walking about.
A few words of caution. Iraq, especially in the warmer months, is a night culture, meaning that people of all backgrounds can be found out and about enjoying the cool of the night. Do not assume that the hot person you see is out to hook up. If they are show no interest, do not push your luck!
Lastly, before venturing out, please keep in mind, as of this writing, LGBTQ people do not have any legal protections. Always check the internet for news updates regarding LGBTQ rights and plan accordingly.
