Does anyone know what they are doing to the nature trail? And where has the hot cock gone?

About the trail, in addition to the links I found back in May, 2015 here's the most recent one I see. This is about the groundbreaking for the project December 1, 2015. It says it will take eighteen months, pretty much into May or later in 2017 if there is delay:

I hope other guys who are local to you can say where they're going now.

You should also be aware that with Recreation Park, the City of Long Beach chose not to appeal a Superior Court ruling that police stings there unfairly targeted gay men. There is also a Federal class-action lawsuit pending against the City.

Finally, there was a quite positive Review in September at Long Beach City College.

I saw a gate locked on the trail. Is the trail open and what is the park like now in 2015?

Looks like there is a long-delayed project to clean up the park and restore the wetlands. It isn't clear if the trail's actually closed. Who knows what you might find behind the gate? ~ Editor

It is like being in a wilderness, but in a ghetto neighborhood. Head west to the end of South Street to get to the park. Look for the 'Nature Trail' sign and walk in to get yourself some 'nature'. It leads under the Long Beach Blvd bridge and to other trails outside the park, including the LA River Bike Path.

This place can be fun. Once all the brush grows back there are some secluded clearings. But it somehow caught fire and burned so all the secluded spots are gone for now. There have been some arrests. At the south end of De Forest Park is the entrance to the nature trail. Park on the steet near the entrance and walk south down the trail. The park runs next to the L.A. River, and gets a little swampy in places. As you walk down the trail, you'll see little clearings in the overgrowth to your right. The farther down you go, the more likely you'll come across action. I've had my best luck around twilight while you can still see but the kids on bikes have left. I went there one Saturday and a hot vaquero came by on horseback and seemed to be lingering. There is always cruising on the nature trail, near the southern end of the park. Walk the dirt trail and back trail and you'll see guys. They cruise on bikes and on foot. If you find a good one, you can find a hidden spot and get off right there. No police patrols at all so far.
