The Levee is nice, but there's not enough privacy. I just wish there were more jocks here. Most of the guys are older and submissive bottoms. A masculine top could reap a huge harvest there.

Heads Up!
24 hours a day, there is cruising but be very aware of three recent incidents: 1) Two men, middle of the day, in a pick-up truck were sucking each other off in the parking area next to the new playground, while kids played there. A Davenport PD unit approached and actually asked the kids if the men had approached them. They said no. The police still arrested the two men and later were charged with child sex crimes. They were wrong to be blowing each other so openly in public to have someone complain but some DPD officers will exaggerate the charges. 2) With that said, DPD officers I know are in the closet and very friendly to the levee-ers did save the life of one gay man who was beaten on the bike path near the old railroad bridge, about a quarter mile from the boat ramp. This did not make the local news because the new police chief has his own homophobia issues, instead it was a "robbery assault" case. The man will survive but not before losing several teeth. Suspects are three teenagers, two male, possibly one female, riding bicycles. They hang out on the west side of the bridge, sometimes flashing a dim flashlight to get a single guy's attention. Their MO is to be friendly, indicate a bi-sexual scene may happen, then as the victim begins to move toward a dark area they beat the shit out of them. Aside from the one documented case, witnesses say it has happened two other times. I saw the "alleged" suspects last weekend, and stayed away. 3) One of the levee regulars was recently stopped by police and warned not to beat up on other gay men he doesn't like. The regular recently broke up with a boyfriend and he has a temper and can go from being real nice to violent in seconds, without warning. He dragged a twenty year old to the ground in front of three witnesses, who refused to give police any help with the assault case. So, the perp was let go, with no charges. However, he is on the "watch list". Bottom line: levee folk, with TR no longer a place to go, watch yourself, please. Signed, An Insider.
