East Side Club has older guys. That attracts guys who like those types. Other than that, the rooms are in a poorer layout compared to West Side Club.

My first time to East Side Club was in April, 2015.

Having read some of the other reviews here, I knew what to expect and I wasn't disappointed. ESC met my needs and I'm sure ESC will do the same on my next visit.

The things I liked most were the Lounge, the Screening Room, and the Red (?) Alcove. What I didn't like was the cold showers. The water never got hot.

Yes, I enjoyed the steamroom but it felt a little cramped with four or five guys in it. I've never cared for dry saunas. A wood lined oven? No, thanks. But for the sake of an honest appraisal, I spent a few minutes in it. It seemed fine as far as saunas go, I guess.

I wandered the labyrinthine halls on three expansive floors, wondering why the wet area was so small in proportion to the rest of the place. Was there really only one toilet for a capacity of over 100 people or did I just not find the others?

I won't review the men because, with the NYC Sex Police, rules are posted here and there throughout the place, I barely dared make eye contact lest I be expelled and whisked away to Central Booking.

I rated it 3 Stars. Not the best, not the worst. I will return.

I go on occasion since I live close by. The facilities themselves are 'eh' compared to other bathhouses. No jacuzzi, no pool. By you do get a wet, and dry sauna. Rooms are on three floors.

It's highly hit or miss as the average age of the patron is between 40 and dead. So if you like doing grandpa this is your place. Everyone else, you'll be waiting. On the upside if you're kind of young/hot whoever else is young/hot will go straight for you. But that may be only one guy.

I went here one afternoon during the blackout to take a shower. I'd never been before and heard about its bad reputation. It was around 1 pm, there were only a few guys there although they have probably 100 rooms if not more. No one really attractive and nothing going on.

First time visit to the city so I figured New York would have some great saunas. Wrong! Very disappointed. Went here on a Friday night from 12 am to 3 am and there were only 6 people. There is no pool or hot tub, no gloryholes, nothing that one would normally find in such place. They do not even sell extra lube, poppers or anything like it!

In their defense, I chatted with this guy and he told me the reason this place is so plain is because the city is bent on shutting down places like this and will not allow them to do anything but have rooms. For $40 for four hours and cab fair it was not worth it. I did hear there are private parties that should be looked into, however we were only there for a few days.

I usually go at 2 or 3 am on a Friday or Saturday, and always leave satisfied. If you're looking for college age club kids with perfect bodies this isn't the place for you. But there are plenty of regular guys in their 30's and 40's who are ready and more than willing with very little attitude. The place is always clean, and I've never had a problem with the staff. I really don't get these negative reviews.

I don't get all the complaints about this place. I was there a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't empty at all even though it was a Wednesday afternoon. Plenty of guys, though many were pretty old and out of shape. On the other hand there were quite a few younger, hot ones as well. It's New York so you can't do what you can in other cities. No public sex allowed, but that's not their fault.

In a word, horrible. I went there 3 times during my trip to NYC, hoping to have fun. It is a dirty place, staff are just plain rude, monitors look like crack hos, the crowd was sad and desperate. I agree with the other posts: this place is on it's last legs.

A previous post said this place is empty, but that has not been my experience. Perhaps this club just isn't busy on the weekend? I have been there on Thursday and Friday afternoons and there were plenty of men in attendance who were ready to get down to business. The later in the afternoon, the busier the club became. It appears that many men stop in after work. Try a weekday afternoon before you give up on this club.

Why can't the greatest city in the country have a really good bathhouse? I have been to some pretty nice ones in Columbus, Tampa, Dallas, San Fran and Las Vegas, and even Montreal! East Side Club is not a "feel good about yourself" type of place. You could forgive them if the saff were at least aloof and not outright rude.

I was just there yesterday and came away satisfied. This is a great no nonsense place where the guys are there to get the job done with very little posing. It is a mixed crowd both in age and race, so you should be able to find someone to your taste. Not many pretty boys, though.

You won't find all the amenities you'll find in clubs in other cities. There is no jacuzzi and no pool. However, the club is in a prime location in midtown on the east side so that limits what a business can offer.

I decided to give this place a try again this past Friday night. What a waste of time. I am surprised that in New York City, this bathhouse would not be cleaner, nicer, and cooler. The main floor was comfortable, but downstairs where most men were, was sweltering. When you ask the unfriendly attendants, they say the air conditioner is on and walk away. Went there this past week twice. Yes, it can be very hit-or-miss and it does have a very large amount of people that just seem to walk around endlessly, but I always seem to have a decent amount of fun whenever I go. This has to be the hands-down winner of 'Worst Bathhouse in the Northern Hemisphere' and it only beats the one in Jo'burg because it has air-conditioning!
I am a flight attendant based out of Amsterdam and have probably visited 100 bathhouses worldwide. New York lives down to its reputation for being as filthy as Calcutta and as moral as Singapore.
