Please be careful and discreet if you're cruising here, especially at night. There's a Nazi-type state trooper that spends more time patrolling these rest areas than anything else.

Heads Up!
Many undercover officers in the rest area after 5 pm. As a son of a police detective, I am aware they are surveying the grounds and arresting mostly men and hitchikers. Do not follow into the wooded areas at night because that will get you arrested.

I've been to this place dozens of times and have had some fun along the way. Always knew the police were a risk and did get stopped once and had my ID checked. I was there recently on Friday night, April 1. The very same George W Bush-type state trooper was there again. Apparently, it was more important to hassle us than to worry about the drivers zooming up and down I-5 at 100 mph. He even disturbed all the people who were actually sleeping in their cars. He was an ass. He remembered me from before (which had been 3-4 years ago). There is definitely cock to be had here but please be careful.

It's pretty easy to go north or south to the next exit and reverse so you can check the other rest stop if there's no action in yours. It's excellent cruising for locals, travelers and truckers alike. The back parking lots are most active. Keep an eye open for police patrols, both on foot and entry from parking lot exits. It's best from dusk to Midnight, and good at lunchtime too.
