Went to bathhouse on a Sunday evening. It is relatively old compared to the newer Club Bath facilities but it was clean and fun. Variety of men – more younger than older – and many areas to have fun. Had a very intense experience with a hot 30 y/o in downstairs video room surrounded by watchers.

The only negatives are, it's a little hard to find the first time and, as noted, it's kind of dangerous inside. Many stairs, some fairly steep and narrow, and downstairs there are all sorts of one steps down and up between the different areas. I have had several recent surgeries on one eye and I was very careful walking around downstairs.

If you like bathhouse experiences there's no reason you wouldn't have fun here.

Located in the heart of the Gayborhood, on narrow Chancellor Street, right by the gay clubs Voyeur and Woody's, the long-popular Club Philadelphia - typically just referred to as "Club Philly" - is the more compact of the city's gay men's saunas. It's in a historic redbrick building and on the whole, it tends to draw a somewhat older crowd of guys. Well-kept and clean with a small gym and cafe, dungeon-themed sling and play rooms in the basement, and a small outdoor deck that's a welcoming amenity on warm days, Club Philly is also right behind the city's most popular gay gym, 12th Street Gym.

The latter is not a hook-up spot, but it does have a major following in the gay community, and it's not unheard for guys who cruise each other there to venture over to Club Philadelphia to better get to know one another. A visit here will set you back $10 for a day pass (monthly and annual memberships are also available), and locker prices start around $20 with small rooms running as little as $28.

Because Club Philadelphia is located within a block or two of so many gay bars, it tends to be most popular late on weekend evenings, beginning around midnight and continuing until well after the neighborhood's many bars have closed. You may find it a big quiet here, and busier at Sansom Street Gym, at other times, but results really do vary greatly.

Much the same as when I've been here previously. The locker room is under renovation, though I don't think the old TV lounge is coming back, too bad. Meanwhile, they've moved the lockers into the snack bar, which can be awkward. The entry attendant was efficient but terse.

There's an added $1 "towel fee," which you can't avoid even by bringing your own. There's also another $1 added onto credit card payments. Isn't this illegal in PA?

There are free condoms available, but no free lube; they sell lube at the front at a significant markup from, say, drugstore prices.

As someone else mentioned, the crowd is very hit-or-miss, and I mostly "missed" last night, being either too early or too late.

It's actually called Club Philly now, a very clean place in the heart of Center City. Pretty decent. Usually, something for everyone.

Best to first go on a theme night. It still can be hit or miss on normal days. Guys can be picky. Usually there's at least one cumdump in the place, daily. Outdoor deck for air and smoking.

Well, the place is open again. Some of it looks newer -- new woodwork on walls and on the stair risers, for example -- and some looks the same, notably the brick-red tiles on a lot of the floors. One big problem, however: the former locker room in the basement is now a large play area. The locker room has been moved to the former site of the first-floor TV lounge that used to have the chairs and couches. So now there's nowhere comfortable to sit when you're taking a break (or having a bad night). The desk clerk says there are no plans to replace it. Bad decision.

It's still under construction, but I got a chance to tour the facilities they were working on, and boy is this place going to be much improved when it reopens. They're shooting for February guys, cross your fingers. The amenities will be a gigantic improvement and the place is going to be clean and comfortable for all the happy humpy guests this time around! The new owner was nice enough to show me around and he really cares about the place, and hopefully we can get people back in and doing what we do best!

This placed is still closed. I spoke with a friend in Philly who said it's supposed to reopen in March/April under new ownership.

The place is closed for now, apparently because of a fire. The website indicates that construction is going on with the intent of reopening later this year.

I'm really getting pissed off with the CBC. I posted in July about the AC not working properly. Now that the nights are cool in Philly, the AC is on full-blast! It's actually cold on the third and fourth floors overnight. When I asked about it at the desk, I was told that the climate-control remote-control is kept locked away from the overnight staff. The "Assistant Manager" travels between their Providence, RI, location and Philly every week, and spends several nights each week in one of their VIP rooms. If they're putting in so much effort/time/expense to have a manager on-site, why can't they ask him to adjust the AC/heat?

They're working on the building. Some work was recently done on the second floor (similar to what was done on the third floor). The "climate control" is getting better, but of course so is the weather. I think that they're really working hard on it, so I keep going, and I remain hopeful for continued improvement in the future.

The air conditioning hasn't been working properly for weeks. While it's my favorite place in Philly, I can't handle having the upper floors be as hot as hell on nights when it's not all that hot outside.

The place is in an old, old building and the condition shows it, although they are doing some nice things to it like the TV lounge and pool table and the third floor hallways. My room on the second floor was really in need of a paint job. They have some cool areas, too, like a really pitch black gloryhole maze and a play area that would be great for a sling. Plus there is a spot where they opened up two little rooms and left the beds. The basement has a video room with a big play mattress and a steamroom, a sauna and a gym. But esthetically this is the kind of place that throws the nasty you are up to right back at you. Makes the East Side Club in New York look like a Four Seasons! Oh yeah, and the towels are not nice.

Time for me to review CBC again. I'm a regular (hell, I'm the Foursquare mayor of the place), and this is THE place that I go in Philly for sex. The entire third floor was redecorated back in the fall. Rooms are half-price several days of the week, and there are all sorts of special prices throughout the week. A good crowd is there every night of the week, and a few very cute, young guys come in almost every night after the bars and clubs close. Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights are the best, of course. CBC is the place for hot fun almost any time of the day or night.

I was staying in Philly and went on a late Saturday night. I had my locker broken into and my money stolen. Luckily I just had money and my ID. I left the wallet at the hotel. I'm a regular (several visits per month) to CBC. I never find the staff to be rude. Also, Friday nights are very popular with the college-age crowd right now. They come in anytime from midnight on and many stay quite late into Saturday morning (9 am and beyond). Hi, guys! I'm a regular at CBC so my opinions are based on lots of time spent there. It isn't the prettiest club in the country but contrary to some posts, it is clean and they are (slowly) doing some work to refurbish the interior. The crowd ranges, as in every bathhouse I've ever been in, from horny twinks to horny senior citizens. Body types run the full gamut, too. As for the sex, this is one of the best (probably even the best) place in Philly. On Friday and Saturday nights the rooms are filled and there's lots of sucking and fucking throughout the building. Weeknights can be hit-or-miss, but I rarely go without sucking at least one cock a night, but usually two or more. Last Wednesday's Customer Appreciation Day included some snacks and drinks, free six-hour rooms and a free three-month extension of memberships. I don't know how often they plan to do these but keep an eye on their Web site.

Ignore all the negative comments about this place! I've been to Sansome Street Gym several times and never had as much fun as I did the last night at CBC. Sure, the facility may need some repairs and such but overall it's really in quite decent condition and there are some hot guys. I only had to fight off one or two old trolls and the hot young guys aren't pretentious like some other places I've been. Fun time, highly recommended!

I have been to both the Philly and Miami facilities and the one in Miami is far better overall than the neglected facilities in Philly. The condition of the facilities in Philly were unsanitary. As for people, it's always a hit-or-miss. Different people go at different times. I found not the best, not the worst. To me the experience was completely forgettable.

I believe they must have a senior citizens discount. I did not see anyone under sixty years old here. I am twenty-five and love to fool around but my stomach could not handle how dirty this place was. I walked around in white socks and the bottoms were black after walking down one hallway. I would not even go near the showers. But as always you must decide for yourself. My suggestion is to stay away.

It's amazing what competition can do for this place. They are cleaning it up and making it much more bearable. They have finally done something constructive with the spa area and turned it into an orgy center with a full sized bed. Had a great time as always but not so worried about mold and mildew anymore. This was my first visit to Philly CBC. I have been on a bathhouse tour for the past two weeks across the US and giving my opinions on them on this site to help others not waste their time and money. Guess I will start with the positive points of this club. Guy at desk was very friendly and gave great directions (It's almost in an alley by some townhomes). Clean, nice towels, nice first floor area, and a few hot guys (Friday night). Now for the negative?second and third floors were like a sauna almost no a/c. The fourth floor was an icebox. All the other floors had narrow hallways that one person could barely get down and this spiral staircase from the basement to the fourth floor that was steep and narrow and an accident waiting to happen. The whole place was dirty, smelly and there was piss on some of the hallway floors. I was there for four hours to give it a chance but nobody cleaned the whole time I was there. The rooms were small and closely backed together. Now back to that basement. The earlier post was right about the whirlpool full of boxes and stuff and the steamroom smelled awful. I don't think I would recommend this place to anyone until they clean it up a bit!

Made it there for my first time last week. No, it's not the Hilton but it's also much nicer and cleaner than your average theater. The layout is nice because it's easy to cruise the room hallways. And if you want to just chill you can do that too on the lower levels.

This place is a real dump. Decrepit, scary and filthy. By the looks of it, the joint was last remodeled in the mid-1970s. When it was last cleaned is anyone's guess. The guy behind the counter was surly and rude; the concept of customer service is lost on him. Want to relax in the Jacuzzi? Perhaps you could if it wasn't stacked with boxes and plastic lawn furniture. Don't miss the second floor toilet, where a smelly black mold can be found crawling up the wall and onto the ceiling. Dirty carpets. Doors that stick. Poor ventilation (cigarette smoke everywhere). Why do we put up with this shit? We deserve (and should demand) better.

I was there the Monday night after Christmas. It seemed like it was busy. I also was overcharged by the Black attendant. When I questioned it, he called me an asshole.
